Water Technology

The water technology program looks at the amazing technologies we as humans have developed to harness the power of water for drinking, cleaning, transportation, and even saving lives.

 

From the Lake to your Tap

This activity describes where our local drinking water comes from, stepping through the water treatment process at our water treatment plants and discussing the concepts of filtration and backwash.

 

Lock it UpLock it Up

This activity is to educate students about the development, operation and significance of the Welland Canals. Students will learn about the heritage of local communities within the Niagara Region and relate it to the history of the Welland Canals.

 

 

F.I.R.E.

At this activity centre, students will learn about how water was used to fight fires in the past compared how water is used to fight fires today. Students will learn about the importance of fire safety.

 

Septic SightsFlush the Kids

At this activity centre, students will use a model to trace the path of household wastes from their source to their place of disposal. They will learn about the difference between municipal wastewater and septic systems.

 

 

Water Recycle

Water “Re”Cycle

This activity exhibits how water is used and recycled in our communities. This includes a demonstration of water treatment, water distribution, wastewater collection, wastewater treatment, and biosolids disposal/use.
